20W 60 refers to the viscosity of the NEOX 20W 60 CD SF Diesel engine oil . In this case the rating tells us that the oil is thick and provides a good film at high temperatures. However it isn’t able to flow with ease at low temperatures and therefore isnt suitable for low temperature applications.

The CD/SF is the classification done by the American petroleum institute (API). This classification tells us that the engine oil has been tested and satisfies industry standards in certain areas such as oxidation protection, wear protection, sludge prevention and soot handling.

20W 60 diesel engine oil cannot flow easily, therefore it cannot reach certain parts of the engine at low temperatures. This affects the engine oil’s performance at low temperatures negatively. On the other hand, a thick engine oil give great performance at high temperature as it provides a thick film to reduce friction effectively.
