Honda Racing Corporation Unveils Formula R Engine Oil at 2025 SEMA Show

Honda Racing Corporation USA made waves at the 2025 SEMA Show by introducing Formula R, its first consumer engine oil line designed to bring race-level performance to everyday Honda and Acura cars.

Developed with Phillips 66 Lubricants, Hondaโ€™s trusted technology partner for over 15 years and the official oil supplier for the championship-winning Acura ARX-06 GTP race cars, Formula R is built to deliver superior protection and performance for turbocharged and high-performance engines.

This fully synthetic lubricant offers excellent thermal stability, wear protection, and optimized engine performance under extreme conditions. Formula R will be available in six viscosity gradesโ€”0W-16, 0W-20, 0W-40, 5W-20, 5W-30, and 10W-30โ€”covering a wide range of Honda and Acura models. The 0W-40 variant is directly inspired by the oil used in the IMSA Civic Type R TCR race car.

Formula R meets or exceeds API SP and ILSAC GF-7A standards and is fully compatible with Honda and Acura service programs. Jon Ikeda, Senior Vice President of HRC US, stated, โ€œWe trust Phillips 66โ€™s expertise from our ARX-06 IMSA race program. That same championship-grade performance is now available for our customers.โ€™โ€™

The oil will be available at Honda and Acura dealerships nationwide in spring 2026, and itโ€™s highly recommended for high-performance models like the Civic Type R and Integra Type S.
