Petrol prices in the UAE are likely to stay stable or see only a slight adjustment in August. In July, Brent crude averaged around $68.80 per barrel, a small drop from June’s $69.87. Locally, July fuel rates stood at Dh2.70 per litre for Super 98, Dh2.58 for Special 95, and Dh2.51 for E-Plus 91.
Since fuel prices directly affect transportation and logistics costs, stable rates help control inflation and keep goods more affordable. The UAE also remains among the world’s 25 lowest petrol price markets, with an average cost of just Dh2.58 per litre.
Inflation in the UAE stood at 1.4% in the first quarter of 2025, driven mainly by falling energy prices. The Central Bank has slightly lowered its 2025 inflation forecast from 2.0% to 1.9%, citing continued declines in transportation costs. The 2026 forecast has also been revised downward to 1.9%, from the earlier estimate of 2.1%, supported by easing prices of key non-energy commodities.
In July, petrol prices were influenced by global trade tariff concerns, but crude oil futures rebounded last week on optimism over US trade negotiations.
“The US-Japan agreement, which cuts tariffs on automobile imports and secures major investment commitments in the US, has supported oil prices,” said Osama Al Saifi, Managing Director for MENA at Traze. “Talks between Washington and the EU are also raising hopes for further trade easing, which could strengthen demand expectations for crude. However, uncertainty over the timing and scope of these agreements may limit the chances of a sharp short-term price rally.”
