UAE Petrol Prices Set to Fall in July After 4-Month Gain As Oil Plunges Over $20

Petrol prices in the UAE may go down in July 2026 after increasing for the last four months. This is because global oil prices have dropped by more than $20 per barrel since the start of June.

Since the Middle East war began on February 28, fuel prices in the UAE have gone up by more than 60%. In June 2026, fuel prices increased by about 8% compared to May. Super 98 cost Dh3.95 per litre, Special 95 cost Dh3.83 per litre, and E-Plus 91 cost Dh3.76 per litre.

Now that global oil prices have been falling throughout June, many experts believe petrol prices in the UAE will also decrease in July.

At the beginning of June, Brent crude oil was trading at around $95 per barrel. By Wednesday, it had dropped to less than $74 per barrel. This happened after the US-Iran peace deal and because markets expected more oil to return as shipping resumed through the Strait of Hormuz.

In May 2026, the average Brent oil price was about $106 per barrel because of the US-Israel-Iran war. In June, the average price dropped to around $71 per barrel.

Ole Hansen, Head of Commodity Strategy at Saxo Bank, said oil prices have continued to fall. Brent crude is now trading below $76 per barrel, only about 7.5% higher than the $70 price level seen before shipping was disrupted in the Strait of Hormuz.

Hansen explained that even though the world recently experienced the biggest oil supply disruption ever, the market is now focusing on the large amount of oil that could soon return. As shipping through the Strait of Hormuz improves, many oil tankers that were delayed are now able to move again.

Millions of barrels of oil are already loaded on ships, and many more tankers are waiting to load. This could increase the oil supply, which may push prices down if demand stays weak.
