Will UAE Petrol Prices Rise in March as Oil Gains Due to US-Iran Tensions

Petrol prices in the UAE could go up in March 2026 after global oil prices jumped in February. The rise comes amid ongoing tensions between the US and Iran.

In February, oil prices climbed due to fears of a possible US-Iran conflict, with Brent crude crossing $71 per barrel. Analysts warn that if tensions escalate further, global oil could go above $100 per barrel. On Tuesday evening, Brent was at $66.31 and WTI at $71.38 per barrel. The average Brent price in February was $68.9, up from $63.47 in January.

Despite the global rise, the UAE reduced petrol prices slightly in February by 8–9 fils per litre. Super 98, Special 95, and E-Plus 91 were priced at Dh2.45, Dh2.33, and Dh2.26 per litre, respectively.

Experts like Norbert Rücker from Julius Baer say the US-Iran tensions are pushing oil prices higher, adding a geopolitical “risk premium” to the market. However, the oil supply is currently strong, with storage, production, and spare capacity keeping prices from spiking too sharply.

While some predict oil could hit the high $70s or $80s, there’s a possibility prices may drop below $60 per barrel by mid-year as the risk premium eases.

Rising tensions in the Middle East, including temporary closures of the Strait of Hormuz, have also increased shipping insurance costs and raised concerns about oil supply. Analysts note that any disruption near this key route, which carries about 20% of global oil, could have major effects on fuel prices.

For vehicle owners, rising petrol prices mean it’s more important than ever to use high-quality engine oils like CNG-specific or petrol/diesel oils that reduce friction, improve mileage, and protect your engine under tough conditions.
